How the calculation works

Your local birth time is converted to Universal Time using the time zone history for your city. We then compute the Sun’s and Moon’s ecliptic longitude using standard astronomical formulas, and the Ascendant from your city’s latitude and longitude. The Sun and Moon positions are tested against a reference astronomy library and agree to within about a tenth of a degree. A nearby city is close enough for most charts, though the rising sign can shift with small changes in time and location.

Why your Vedic sign may be different

Western astrology ties signs to the seasons, and Vedic astrology ties them to the fixed stars. The two now differ by about 24 degrees, so many people find their sign moves back by one. In Vedic practice, your Moon sign, or Janma Rashi, carries the most weight.

What each placement says about money

In the reading above, the Sun stands for how you like to earn. The Moon stands for what makes you feel safe, and so what you buy when you do not. The rising sign describes how people first read you at work. These are interpretive ideas from astrological tradition rather than measurements. The practical part is noticing whether they ring true, and then opening the matching money guide.
